What Are Brake Services?

There are a few areas of the brake system that typically receive work during regular maintenance. This includes replacing brake pads, as well as drums/discs, and repairs of the rotors. In many instances, the technician will do a more thorough inspection in order to pick up on more minor issues that they might otherwise overlook. Here are some signs that you might need brake service:

• Noises: If you hear a squealing or scraping noise from your brake pads, you must replace them right away since this indicates that the grippy material is running out.
• Jittery braking: When your braking is jittery, this may mean that your rotors are warped. In this instance, your mechanic likely will resurface or replace the brake rotor.
• Thickness of brake pads: A technician should inspect brake pad thickness frequently. They can do this whenever they conduct a tire rotation and/or change the oil.
• Difficulty stopping: When you find it more difficult to stop the vehicle or experience longer stopping distances, you could have an issue with your rotors.
